We're not trashy

HopCat's parent company, BarFly Ventures, has released its 2017 Sustainability Report. As we continue to grow, we take our mission with us anywhere we open a restaurant, which is to be a responsible member of the community and planet. Here are a few ways we tried to do this last year:

-- We diverted nearly 90 percent of the waste created in our restaurants away from landfills through composting and recycling. In 2017, more than 25,000 cubic yards avoided landfills.

-- We donated $10,000 to clean-water initiatives.

-- We donated $84,000 to more than 200 nonprofits and charities in our communities.

You can read the full report here.

Help HopCat DT support the Flint Water Fund

One of HopCat's favorite partnerships is FeelGood Tap, in which Michigan breweries donate proceeds from a selected beer to be donated to a Michigan nonprofit, rotating monthly. May's designated beer is the Boulevard Brewing Co. Ginger Lemon Radler.

In May, we will be directing all proceeds raised by our FeelGood Tap membership to the Flint Water Fund, an initiative run by United Way. 100% of every dollar contributed will be used to purchase truckloads of bottled water to be distributed at food banks in the area, since the state of Michigan recently ended its program to distribute bottles of water to Flint residents.
