HopCat's parent company, BarFly Ventures, has released its 2017 Sustainability Report. As we continue to grow, we take our mission with us anywhere we open a restaurant, which is to be a responsible member of the community and planet. Here are a few ways we tried to do this last year:
-- We diverted nearly 90 percent of the waste created in our restaurants away from landfills through composting and recycling. In 2017, more than 25,000 cubic yards avoided landfills.
-- We donated $10,000 to clean-water initiatives.
-- We donated $84,000 to more than 200 nonprofits and charities in our communities.

One of HopCat's favorite partnerships is Feelgood Tap, in which Michigan breweries donate proceeds from a selected beer to be donated to a Michigan nonprofit, rotating monthly. For April, HopCat Ann Arbor's featured beer is the New Belgium Brewing Hemperor HPA. Every pint sold this month will result in a $1 donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to raise money for research and treatment.
