HopCat was envisioned, designed, stocked, and staffed with one mission in mind: To bring you great beer. What is a great beer? It's a beer made with care and pride. It might be a local beer or one from across the globe. It could be your usual pint, or a beer that you had no idea existed. Every once in a while, it's a beer you would never have ordered unless your server or bartender suggested it. At HopCat Grand Rapids we specialize in offering a wide range of regional, global, and Belgian beers with 49 taps, a firkin (monthly tappings) and a 250-bottle list that's one of the best in the country.
Since opening our Grand Rapids location in January 2008, we've been on an unending quest to ensure that our beer selection is the best in the world. We’re listed as one of the Top 50 bars in the US by Draft Magazine. But that’s just the start: Beer Advocate Magazine has ranked us as the #3 Beer Bar in the world, CraftBeer.com has rated us among the Top 5 beer bars in the U.S. 2012-2014, and in 2012-2016 RateBeer.com ranked HopCat - Grand Rapids as the #1 Brewpub in the United States.
Kids and Smoking
HopCat Grand Rapids is a bar. If you’re under 21 you can come in before 9 p.m. After 10 p.m., we will not admit anyone under 21, no exceptions.
Please note that you cannot smoke anywhere on our property, including the patio.
3-6 PM & 10 PM-CLOSE MONDAY-THURSDAY:
* $3 Wells, Tito’s, Jameson, House Wine
* $1.50 off all full pour Draft Beers
* 1/2 off Shareables & Fries
HopCat Grand Rapids does not accept reservations. If you have a group, we recommend sending a member of your party ahead of time to put in a name. If there's a wait, grab a beer at the bar and hang out until we have your table ready (not a bad deal, right?). Since you're reading this far into the website here's a pro tip: Our regulars know you can download the NoWait app on your phone and, when you're within a 10-mile radius of HopCat, check the wait and add your name to the waitlist if there's a wait.
Events in the Loft
Our Loft area in the back is available for small (usually informal) meetings. The Loft seats 20 and will hold a maximum of 25 people. The room is furnished like a living room with couches, love seats, armchairs, coffee, & end tables. Reserving the Loft requires a $300 minimum food and beverage spend Monday through Thursday and a $500 minimum food and beverage spend Friday through Sunday. The total spend can be reached with one or multiple tabs. Just call us at 616-451-4677 or email Troy DeVries at email@example.com to check availability. If you're looking for a larger venue, consider our sister restaurant, Grand Rapids Brewing Co., which offers custom catering, a full bar and a larger capacity room for groups of 40-300. Contact Shane Philipsen for more information on GRBC events, firstname.lastname@example.org or 616-458-7000.
HopCat offers off-site catering for events of all kinds, including bar service, through our BarFly Events team. For information on catering your event, visit barflyevents.com or contact Shane Philipsen at email@example.com or 616-458-7000. Takeout orders are welcome. Just give us a call and we'll get your order ready for you, 616-451-4677. HopCat also fills clean growlers (we also sell HopCat logo growlers). The price varies based on the beer you choose, but our Local 8 selections are just $12! Ask your bartender or server for more information.
We're pretty biased, but we think HopCat is a pretty awesome place to work. If you're interested in joining the team at one of our locations, stop by or send us your resume and a cover letter with the subject line indicating the location you're interested in working at to firstname.lastname@example.org.
